Modern Brains Academy

Practical STEM, ICT, Robotics & AI Workshops

Executive Summary of Three Practical Workshop Cycles under the Director's 15-Week Action Plan

Term 1 • September – December 2026

Executive Overview

As part of the Modern Brains Academy Director's 15-Week Action Plan, the Academy will implement three practical workshop cycles focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), ICT, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The workshops are designed to complement classroom teaching by giving students opportunities to observe, experiment, build, investigate, use technology, solve problems and apply knowledge practically.

Rather than treating STEM and technology activities as occasional events, the three-cycle approach is intended to establish a more regular culture of practical and technology-supported learning within the Academy.

The Three Workshop Cycles

Cycle 1

24–25 September 2026

Two-Day Practical Workshop

Day 1: Practical Science / STEM
Day 2: ICT / Robotics / AI
Cycle 2

29–30 October 2026

Two-Day Practical Workshop

Day 1: Practical Science / STEM
Day 2: ICT / Robotics / AI
Cycle 3

26–27 November 2026

Two-Day Practical Workshop

Day 1: Practical Science / STEM
Day 2: ICT / Robotics / AI

Purpose of the Workshops

Practical Learning Strengthen students' understanding of classroom concepts through hands-on activities and experimentation.
Problem Solving Develop creativity, critical thinking, logical reasoning and problem-solving skills.
Digital Skills Improve students' practical ICT skills and responsible use of digital technologies.
Technology Exposure Introduce students to age-appropriate robotics and Artificial Intelligence concepts.
Teamwork & Innovation Encourage collaboration, experimentation, project-based learning and innovation.
Teacher Development Give teachers opportunities to observe and participate in practical and technology-supported teaching approaches.

Two-Day Workshop Structure

Day 1

Practical Science / STEM

Students will participate in selected hands-on Science and STEM activities appropriate to their level and curriculum.

Activities will emphasize observation, experimentation, measurement, investigation, construction, application and problem-solving.

Day 2

ICT / Robotics / AI

Students will engage in practical digital activities, robotics concepts, programming or computational logic where appropriate, and age-appropriate applications of Artificial Intelligence.

The emphasis will be on learning technology by using it, rather than merely discussing it theoretically.

Progressive Three-Cycle Approach

1

Introduction & Engagement

24–25 September 2026

Introduce students and teachers to the practical workshop model and establish the foundation for hands-on Science, STEM, ICT, Robotics and AI learning.

2

Application & Development

29–30 October 2026

Build on the first cycle by increasing opportunities for application, practical problem-solving and project-based learning.

3

Innovation & Consolidation

26–27 November 2026

Allow students to apply knowledge gained from the earlier workshops, demonstrate practical skills and strengthen their confidence in innovation and technology.

Strategic Importance to Modern Brains Academy

The workshops form part of the Academy's broader school-improvement strategy and directly support the following priorities:

Academic Excellence Practical activities help students connect theory with real-world application.
Teacher Development Teachers gain exposure to practical and technology-supported approaches to teaching.
Digital Transformation Students and teachers develop stronger confidence using digital tools.
STEM & Innovation The Academy strengthens its culture of experimentation, creativity and innovation.
Student Development Students develop teamwork, confidence, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Future Readiness Learners receive early exposure to technologies shaping education and the modern workplace.

Expected Outcomes

01. Greater Interest Increased student interest in Science, STEM and technology.
02. Practical Application Improved ability to apply classroom knowledge to practical tasks.
03. Digital Confidence Greater confidence in using digital technologies.
04. Robotics & AI Exposure Improved awareness of robotics, computational thinking and AI.
05. Problem Solving Development of creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving.
06. Teamwork Greater collaboration and participation in project-based activities.
07. Teacher Capacity Greater teacher awareness of practical and digital teaching methods.

Board Support & Institutional Commitment

Successful implementation will require cooperation among the Academy's leadership, teachers, students and relevant stakeholders.

Support the integration of practical STEM and digital learning into the Academy's improvement strategy.
Encourage teachers to participate actively in the workshops.
Ensure necessary facilities, equipment and learning materials are made available where required.
Organize students appropriately to maximize participation and learning.
Review outcomes and lessons from each workshop cycle.
Use the results of each cycle to improve subsequent practical learning activities.

Conclusion

The three practical workshop cycles represent an important step towards making Science, STEM, ICT, Robotics and AI learning a regular part of the Modern Brains Academy experience.

Scheduled for 24–25 September, 29–30 October and 26–27 November 2026, the initiative provides three structured opportunities during Term 1 for students to learn by doing, teachers to strengthen practical instructional approaches, and the Academy to advance its commitment to innovation and digital learning.

The initiative will also provide a foundation for evaluating the Academy's practical learning model and determining how it can be strengthened and expanded in subsequent terms.
